The Lagos State Government, on Wednesday, engaged diverse stakeholders within the Kosofe Local Government Area to signal the commencement of preparations for the Kosofe Model City Plan.
Speaking at the inception of the workshop, the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Idris Salako, stated that the occasion was organised for the purpose of assessing and collating needs of the stakeholders as inputs for the Kosofe Model City Plan.
Noting the significance of the commencement of the Kosofe Model City Plan pivoted on the T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda, Idris Salako said that Kosofe Model Planning Area and Lagos Island remained the two areas within the State without an Operative Development Plan.
The Commissioner stated that the preparation of the Kosofe Model City Plan, like other previous plans, would involve all stakeholders expected to lend their support, raise critical issues and express genuine concerns to move the project forward.
He emphasised that the preparation and periodic review of Development Plans as the basis for effective control and management of Lagos urban space was the responsibility of the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.
