Indigenes of Osun State have openly declared their support for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Mr. Agboola Ajayi, in the upcoming Ondo governorship election scheduled for November 16.
This show of solidarity comes as political parties ramp up their campaigns, with the poll just days away.
On Tuesday, Osun’s support for Ajayi became evident when the governor of Osun State, Mr. Ademola Adeleke, joined the campaign efforts in Ondo, further energizing the momentum for the PDP candidate.
Governor Adeleke, who made a special visit to Ondo State, participated in campaign activities alongside Ajayi in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, and visited several local government areas as part of their tour.
At one of these events, Adeleke received a warm welcome from Osun indigenes residing in Akure, who expressed their enthusiastic support for Ajayi’s candidacy.
Addressing the excited crowd, Governor Adeleke called upon his fellow Osun natives to actively support the PDP and ensure the party's success on election day.
He urged them to go out in full force to vote for Ajayi, emphasizing the importance of not only voting but also staying vigilant at the polling stations to safeguard their votes.
In his speech, Adeleke highlighted the accomplishments of the PDP administration in Osun, contrasting it with the previous government.
He stated, “All the things they didn’t do in 12 years, we have done in two years in Osun.
The election has come, go and tell them that we are behind your ‘governor’ (Ajayi).
We have brought the light to Ondo State.
If we trust in God, everything is possible.
Agboola Ajayi has the experience, up to the grassroots.
He would repeat the wonders in Osun in Ondo.
Let’s go back to our communities that Agboola is the next governor of this state.”
Governor Adeleke expressed confidence in Ajayi’s ability to replicate Osun’s achievements in Ondo if he wins the governorship.
He emphasized that the PDP is the only party with a genuine commitment to progress, urging supporters to vote and safeguard their votes on election day.
“I’m glad to be here to support my brother, Agboola Ajayi,” Adeleke continued.
“All the systems are working in Osun, and we want to replicate it here in Ondo.
PDP is the only progressive party.
Go and vote, and stay with your votes.”
Agboola Ajayi, the PDP candidate, also took the stage, expressing heartfelt gratitude to the Osun people for their overwhelming support.
He promised to deliver substantial benefits to the people of Ondo, including the many Osun indigenes residing in the state, if he were elected governor.
Ajayi assured the crowd that his administration would prioritize the welfare of all Ondo residents, working tirelessly to fulfill the party’s promises and improve the quality of life across the state.
He shared his commitment to democracy, emphasizing his dedication to inclusivity and positive transformation.
In a statement supporting Ajayi’s campaign, Mr. Kehinde Ayinla, Chairman of the Osun State Indigenes in Ondo State, expressed confidence in Ajayi’s leadership qualities.
Ayinla stated that their support stemmed from Ajayi’s clear understanding of the challenges facing Ondo’s citizens, which he believed set him apart from other candidates.
Ayinla assured Ajayi that the PDP could count on a massive turnout from Osun indigenes living across all 18 local government areas of Ondo.
With the support of Osun natives, Ajayi’s campaign is expected to gain significant traction as he aims to make impactful changes in Ondo.
For the PDP, the endorsement from Osun indigenes signifies a strong, cross-state unity that could bolster their efforts to secure victory.
The Osun natives' involvement exemplifies how political solidarity can extend beyond state boundaries, as these individuals show their commitment to PDP’s vision and Ajayi’s leadership.
With the election fast approaching, the PDP and Agboola Ajayi continue to rally support, armed with endorsements from both Ondo residents and Osun natives.
This growing coalition reflects the campaign's focus on a progressive vision for Ondo and a pledge to bring sustainable growth and development to the state.
As the November 16 election draws nearer, the PDP’s campaign trail remains vibrant, with many supporters hopeful for a transformative change under Ajayi’s leadership.
For Osun indigenes in Ondo, their solidarity with Ajayi represents a hope for greater inclusivity and a strengthened commitment to democracy across regional lines.
