Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo has expressed his unwavering optimism about Nigeria's future, asserting that the nation is destined to become a land flowing with milk and honey, rather than a desert or failed state.

In a recent interview, Obasanjo acknowledged the hardships currently faced by Nigerians but urged citizens not to lose hope.

He emphasized that Nigeria possesses immense potential and that its present challenges are not indicative of its destined position.

"We are going through hardship, but [Nigerians] should never lose hope," Obasanjo stated.

"I am an incurable optimist about Nigeria, and we have a great country. Where we are is not where God wants us to be.

And I believe that sooner than later, we will get to where God wants us to be."

He further elaborated that Nigeria's current state is a result of both inadvertent and deliberate actions by its leaders and, to some extent, its followers.

However, he expressed confidence that divine plans for Nigeria remain favorable.

"God wants Nigeria to be a land flowing with milk and honey, not a desert, not a basket case, not a failed country," Obasanjo remarked.

"I believe God has great things for Nigeria in the immediate future."

Obasanjo's comments come at a time when Nigeria is grappling with various socio-economic challenges, including inflation, unemployment, and security concerns.

His message serves as a call to action for both leaders and citizens to work collaboratively towards realizing the nation's potential.

Reflecting on the nation's leadership, Obasanjo has previously criticized the quality of governance, attributing Nigeria's struggles to poor leadership decisions.

He has emphasized the need for leaders to take responsibility and make decisions that align with the country's best interests.

In his interview, Obasanjo also touched upon international relations, particularly concerning the United States.

He highlighted the importance of engaging constructively with global leaders to ensure Nigeria's interests are represented and respected on the world stage.

As Nigeria approaches the new year, Obasanjo's message resonates with many citizens seeking hope and direction.

His optimism underscores a belief in Nigeria's resilience and capacity to overcome its current challenges.

Obasanjo's vision of Nigeria as a prosperous nation flowing with milk and honey serves as both an encouragement and a challenge.

It calls upon all Nigerians to strive towards a collective goal of national development, unity, and progress.

The path may be fraught with difficulties, but with unwavering optimism and concerted effort, Nigeria can achieve the greatness it is destined for.
