Nigerian ambassador to the United States of America Sylvanus Adiewere Nsofor dies at 85

The Nigerian ambassador to the United States, Sylvanus Adiewere Nsofor is dead.



Sylvanus who succeeded late prof. Adebowale Adefuye died in Maryland hospital, Washington DC on Thursday.


Prof. Adebowale Adefuye, who also died towards the end of his tenure as Nigeria’s ambassador to US.


Nsofor was born March 17, 1935, in Oguta, Imo State, Nigeria. He graduated from Holborn College of Law in 1962 and added an LL.M from the London School of Economics in 1964.


He was appointed as judge at imo state high court, and later became a justice at Nigeria court of appeal, who was later mandated to retire in year 2005.


In 2017 Nsofor became Nigerian ambassador to the United States, after the death of professor Adebowale Adefuye.
