Panic looms in the air as sounds of gunshots and screams fills the once vibrant area of the world's wealthiest black man and business tycoon Aliko Dangote's refinery today leaving at least two people dead and several injured.
Video footage released by one of the workers on the scene revealed that the incident took place shortly after the workers on the site held a protest concerning the short-payment of salary to the laborer's working in Dangote refinery at Lekki free zone Lagos.
After a week long of protest and days of abandonment of their duties by the workers, the once peaceful protest finally took a violent turn and the security officials began shooting at the protesting workers at the entrance gate of the refinery.
It was later gathered that Oba Rasayela, one of the suppliers of laborers in the Dangote refinery at Lekki Free Zone, has been known notoriously for embezzling funds supposedly meant for payment of workers, and the workers decided that they have had enough.
Though the construction of the refinery is been contracted to some international bodies like OIL, KEMMY-TECH, CC7, ONSHORE etc. of which Dangote has make provision in other to have a good delivery and to make the workers happy, but the greedy act of Oba Rasayela and other labor supplier has propel the reaction of the workers.

Dangote's refinery is one of the biggest refinery in Africa which is worth over $12 billion and over 50,000 workers currently working on the site.
